Today, September 30, 2010, the Brown Swiss breed named their champions. The International Brown Swiss show was judged by Callum McKiven of Canton De Hatley, Quebec, Canada. For many exhibitors this is the pinnacle of the show season, and joy was evident on the winner's faces. Read more

But one theme that is popping up all over the show is the newest direction in dairy management: precision and automation. They aren’t the cows you’ll see in the show ring, but they’re here in the Grazing Pavilion. The Grazing Pavilion, in its second appearance at Expo, is hosting 10 cows representing the Normande, Dutch Belted, and a few other breeds of grazing cattle. Read more

After 188 heifers and 189 milking Jerseys, a total of 377 animals, walked across the colored shavings the champion of the Central National Jersey Show was named by judge, Kelly Barbee.
Barbee, of Concord, N.C., selected Frederick 2783 Adventure as Grand Champion. Adventure is exhibited by S. Lackey, Rader and Walton of Carlisle, Penn. Reserve honors went to Llolyn Jude Griffen-ET. Read more

The International Milking Shorthorn Show was held today, Wednesday, September 29. The show began with the milking classes, the champions, and then followed by the heifer classes. Two well-known cows of the breed came ready for the challenge. Coming out on top were the two aged cows, Peri and Christina. Read more

After sorting through the plethora of product handouts, notepads, and writing utensils from the trade show, the cream of the crop freebies make themselves known.

Judge Norm Nabholz placed 233 head of Ayrshires in Tuesday's show and was assisted by associate judge Randy Franck. Winners hailed from across the US and Canada. Sweet Pepper Black Francesca owned by Beverly Donovan of Maine claimed the crown of Grand Champion at the International Ayrshire Show. Read more

The International Junior Holstein Show was held on Tuesday, September 28 with Adam Liddle of Argyle, NY, serving as judge of the 212 entries. For many of the young Holstein exhibitors, this show is the pinnacle of their year. Their animals may have been shown all spring and summer, and will conclude this week. For others, this may be "the" only show at which they will exhibit in 2010. Read more
