D B C A is my placing for this quality class of Ayrshire cows.D places over B with her advantage in overall strength and depth throughout. D is longer in her rib structure, deeper in the heart, and shows more body capacity. I also appreciate the powerful front end of D. I also credit D with being wider in the thurls and having stronger pasterns. D also is more correct in her fore udder attachment than B. I give B credit for exhibiting more bloom to her udder, being fuller at the top of her rear udder, and wider in the rear udder attachment.
B places over C with her advantage in overall dairyness and depth of body than C. B is also cleaner through the throat and brisket. B has an advantage over C in overall correctness of the mammary system, showing more udder quality, being more level on the udder floor, and having more width of rear udder. I grant that C has a more youthful udder, and her fore udder blends more desirably into her body wall.
C places over A with her definitive advantage in mammary system and correctness of the pelvic region and leg structure. C shows more defined cleft, has a more pleasing shape to the udder, and carries her udder higher above the hocks. C has a more correct teat placement, especially the front teats. I do concede that A exhibits more dairyness. However, A lacks the overall correctness of mammary system and length of body to place higher in this class.
