Trade Show Begins

Over 760 trade show exhibitors are part of the 2010 World Dairy Expo, encompassing 650,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. Each year booths and displays are evaluated for design and layout and the top booth is selected in three catagories. The awards are sponsored by Filament Marketing of Madison, Wis. Winners receive a banner to display in their booth. Read more

University of Wisconsin-Madison crowned Champion — Brian Coyne breaks records

Brian Coyne, a team member from the University of Madison outpaced the competition and won High Individual Overall at the Intercollegiate Dairy Judging competition. The contest was held Monday with awards announced this morning. This was the highest individual score in the contest since 1984. Read more

Maryland 4-H reigns supreme and takes reasons for the 15th time

For the second year in a row, the team from Maryland took home the prestigious First Place trophy for the National 4-H Dairy Judging Contest. Team members included Kaitlyn Corbett, Hannah Hood, Jessica Sentelle, and Jason Zimmerman. They were coached by Jeff Semler and Kiera Finucane. That team also won reasons for a record 15th time. Fifteen teams from post secondary programs from coast to coast competed at this year's contest, including an international team from Honduras. This was the 22nd International Post Secondary Dairy Cattle Judging Contest held at World Dairy Expo. Read more

National 4-H Dairy Conference descends on Fort Atkinson

Signaling the start of World Dairy Expo week for those of us at Hoard's Dairyman is always the annual visit from the National 4-H Dairy Conference. Today, around 200 attendees from across the country (and some from Canada, too!) made stops at the Hoard's Dairyman offices, Hoard's Dairyman Farm, Nasco, and the National Dairy Shrine and Hoard Historical Museum. Throw down the gauntlet

On Saturday and Sunday, over 300 4-H, post-secondary, and college judging teams traveled southern Wisconsin for judging work-outs prior to the competition being held this Monday morning, September 27. Six Wisconsin dairy producers located close to Madison hosted the practices. Read more
