International Brown Swiss Show Winners are North America’s best

Winners from Coast to Coast

Brown Swiss breeder Richard Hill of New York served as the official judge of the International Brown Swiss Show with the assistance of Joe Sparrow of Kentucky serving as his associate. They placed 361 head of North America’s top Brown Swiss.

The winning Fall Yearling, Forfront BNZ Tip Top, owned by Topp View and Jeff Woods of Ohio, was named Junior Champion. She was followed by Rose Lane Jetway Damsel, the winning Spring Yearling, for Lindsey Rucks of Florida.

Intermediate Champion was presented to Top Acres Supreme Wizard-ET. She is owned by Wayne Sliker of Ohio. Dublin Hills Sorina followed Wizard in the senior 3-year-old class and was named Reserve Intermediate Champion for Ken Main and Peter Vail of New York. Read more

There are many causes the dairy industry can come together on. We are always working to prevent misconceptions about how our cows are raised, the nutritive values of our milk and our antibiotic use. Another cause that affects producers and that needs the attention of the entire agriculture industry is the fight against hunger. It is the mission of The Chew on This Tour to be the loudest voice in the room, speaking on the behalf of the agriculture industry and sharing how important it is to efficiently produce enough food to feed the world.

Ten-year-old cow named Grand Champion of International Milking Shorthorn Show

International Milking Shorthorn Show Champions 2013

Two hundred and two cattle were exhibited at the 2013 International Milking Shorthorn show. Judge Lynn Harbaugh of Marion, Wis., and Associate Judge Katie Bue of Alma Center, Wis., were hard at work Tuesday and Wednesday evaluating the world-class Milking Shorthorns. The ultimate champion was 10-year-old Lands-Brook Christina-EXP-ET, owned by Jordan Landsgard of Lands-Brook Farms in Iowa. Christina, who is no stranger to the show ring, was honored with Senior and Grand Champion. Reserve Senior and Grand Champion honors went to 5-year-old Halpins Mona II, owned by Mackinson, G and M Halpin of Halpin Farms in Illinois. Read more

Three-year-old and six-year-old Excitation daughters steal the show

Jersey Champions at 2013 WDE

There were an impressive 357 entries at the International Jersey Show, beginning with the heifer show on Tuesday and ending with the cow show yesterday afternoon. Judge Callum McKinven of Canton de Hatley, Quebec, and Associate Judge Stephan Borland of Ormstown, Quebec, had the incredible task of placing the world’s finest Jerseys. Read more

International Junior Holstein Show deep with quality

International Junior Holstein Show Champions

Pat Conroy, Angola, Ind., had 240 Holsteins parade before him along with associate judge, Esteban Posada of Mexico in the International Junior Holstein Show. The judge was looking for square-rumped, deep, open ribbed cattle and was “very impressed with the show.”

In the heifer classes, two sisters by Maple-Downs-I G W Atwood took Junior Champion and reserve honors. Gebarten Atwood Maria owned by Taylor Morrill and St-Jacob Atwood Adria owned by Andrew and Mackenzie Reynolds were the top heifers for these New York exhibitors. Read more

Ayrshire champs hail from the Empire State

After the first day of World Dairy Expo, the 2013 Ayrshire champions have been determined.

Ayrshire Grand Champion - World Dairy Expo 2013

With the assistance of associate judge, Keith Topp, Botkins, Ohio, Ayrshire judge Paul Trapp of Taylor, Wis., placed 241 animals in yesterday's show. As lead judge in the International Ayrshire show, Trapp praised the "outstanding cattle" and commented that he tried to follow the pattern of "straight-lined, balanced cows with fantastic udders."

He selected Sunny Acres TSB Silk owned by Gregory W. B. Evans, Georgetown, N.Y, as Grand Champion Ayrshire at World Dairy Expo yesterday afternoon. Silk garnered top placing in the Four-Year-Old Cow class and was named Senior Champion Female. Read more
