Expo week was a successful venture for many, whether they walked the colored shavings, worked the trade show, or came to learn more about the dairy industry.

Saturday, October 8 marked the end of yet another World Dairy Expo for both commercial and registered dairy cattle enthusiasts. Eastside Lewisdale Gold Missy, a Canadian Holstein, took Supreme Champion with Reserve Supreme honors going to the Jersey, Pine Haven Ssm Marmie owned by the Sauder family of Tremont, Ill.

Supreme Champion of the Junior Show went to a different cow from the Sauder family, South Mountain Voltage Spice-ET. Reserve Supreme honors went to the Red and White, Ainger Advent Jessa-RED, with Britney Hill of Bristol, Vt. at the halter. Read more

Merle Howard Award surprises Karen Anderson

Given in memory of Merle Howard, the 1954 Klussendorf winner, the Howard award is given to World Dairy Expo’s top junior exhibitor. Howard was a long-time World Dairy Expo volunteer, who served as herd manager for Moosehart Farms, as a Holstein classifier, and later in the sales and export business.

Klussendorf Trophy awarded to Kietzman

Joel Kietzman, Waunakee, Wis., was named the 70th winner of the Klussendorf Trophy, the highest recognition given to a dairy cattle showman in the United States.

Klussendorf-MacKenzie awarded to New Yorker

Brett Yerina, Johnstown, N.Y., won the coveted Klussendorf-MacKenzie Award presented during the 45th World Dairy Expo, in memory of Duncan McKenzie, 1961 Klussendorf winner.

Red and White, a family affair

In the Red and White show on the colored shavings today, it was a win for the KHW family. KHW Regiment Apple-Red-Et owned by the Apple Partners of Edgerton, Wisc., took top honors and was named the Red and White Grand Champion. Milksource Genetics, Kaukauna, Wis. received a Reserve Grand accolade with RW Wilstar-Rs Tlt Limited-Red. Making it a family affair RW K H W Regiment Apple 3-Red-Etn-Cl owned by Westcoast Holsteins of Chilliwack British Columbia, Canada was honorable mention.

Apple was also named senior champion. Milksource Genetics took reserve and honorable mention with Wilstar-Rs Tlt Limited-Red and RW Budjon-Nitzy Destiny-Red-Et.

Grand and senior champion female of the junior show went to Ainger Advent Jessa-RED owned by Britney Hill from Bristol, Vermont. Reserve grand honors were awarded to Underwood Advent Jane owned by Kristin King of Waddington, New York. Read more
