Farm Show Cancellation Stamp Also Available

The much anticipated Pennsylvania 100th Farm Show Book, which was unveiled in August during Penn State's Ag Progress Days, will be available during the 2016 Pennsylvania Farm Show. The book's author, Mary Klaus, will be on-site throughout the eight-day event to autograph copies as collector's items.

"Hold Your Horses! The Pennsylvania Farm Show at 100," a 176-page hardbound collectible book, was published by the Friends of Farm Show Foundation to commemorate the 100th show. This book, featuring the stories of hundreds of participants over the years, tells the rich history of the nations' largest indoor agricultural exposition. A 100-question trivia quiz, dozens of humorous stories, a profile of each of Pennsylvania's 67 counties and hundreds of photographs tell the Farm Show's story.

"This book captures the history of the Farm Show," said Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. "From the very first show to the event it has become today, readers will have a chance to travel through time and see the evolution of not only this show, but of Pennsylvania agriculture. Mary Klaus was the right person to convey the Farm Show story. Her growing passing for the show and enthusiasm are evident within the covers of this book."
Klaus, a former Westmoreland County 4-H member and a Harrisburg journalist for decades, has reported on the Pennsylvania Farm Show for 37 years. Her in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the Farm Show and her personal friendship with hundreds of Farm Show participants gave her access to their stories, which are shared in the book.

"This book tells the story of the Pennsylvania Farm Show while giving readers the opportunity to connect with it in their own homes," said Klaus. "Personal experiences reveal so much about history. I hope our readers enjoy these fun stories as much as I loved writing them."

"Hold Your Horses!" The Pennsylvania Farm Show at 100" will be available throughout show at $28 per copy. Copies can also be purchased online at http://pafarmshowbook.com. Shipping and handling fees will apply.

Visitors will not only be able to have their books signed by the author, but will also have the chance to have a commemorative cancellation stamp included. The Friends of the Farm Show Foundation has been working with the United States Postal Service on the creation of a one-of-kind, one-time cancellation stamp to commemorate the 100th Pennsylvania Farm Show. The postal service will be on hand at the Foundation's booth to apply the stamps to the book or any other item visitors would like to have denoted with the commemorative stamp.
