Just licensed by USDA, this new vaccine is used to reduce mastitis caused by Streptococcus uberis. The product represents the first time dairies have the option to be proactive about environmental streptococcal mastitis. Streptococcus Uberis Bacterin has been tested on commercial dairies with a history of elevated somatic cell counts (BTSCC and SCC) and isolation of environmental streptococcus species (e.g. Streptococcus uberis) from milk samples. Use of the vaccine resulted in significantly lowered somatic cell counts. When cultured, there has been a concomitant disappearance of Streptococcus uberis from string and bulk tank milk samples. Available in 10-dose and 50-dose sizes. www.hygieialabs.com.
