Accelerated Genetics is excited to have seven individuals serving as interns for the summer. Interns include Trent Dado, Amery, Wis.; Katie Friederichs, Walcott, Iowa; Ryan Kraabel, Westby, Wis.; Katherine Larson, Viroqua, Wis.; Kade Lindback, Alta, Iowa; Charlie Moore, Fennimore, Wis.; and Anna Wilkens, Waverly, Neb.
Trent Dado:
Dado is a Sales & Service Intern. Some of his duties include developing skills in artificial insemination, learning about reproductive services and receiving a broad range of experience in products and services offered by Accelerated Genetics.
Currently Dado attends the University of Minnesota where he is majoring in Animal Science. At college, he is active in FarmHouse Fraternity, Gopher Dairy Club, Gopher Crops & Soils and Minnesota Block & Bridle. Dado grew up on his family's dairy farm, Four Hands Holsteins, where they milk 450 registered Holsteins and run 1200 acres of cropland.
Katie Friederichs:
Friederichs attends Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Okla., where she is majoring in Animal Science and Agricultural Communications. She is serving as a Marketing Communications Intern. In her role she will be creating feature articles for publication, writing news releases, designing promotional materials, updating the website, working on electronic newsletters, helping with advertising campaigns and representing Accelerated Genetics at various events.
Friederichs developed her passion for beef genetics as she took part in her family's beef operation KMF Livestock where she continues to be active in showing and raising her Angus cattle. Friederichs is honing her evaluation and communication skills at college through the Meats and Livestock judging teams, and her involvement in campus organizations: Animal Science Leadership Alliance, Student Council, Block & Bridle and Ag Communicators of Tomorrow.
Ryan Kraabel:
Another Sales & Service Intern is Kraabel. Some of his duties include developing skills in artificial insemination, learning about reproductive services and receiving a broad range of experience in products and services offered by Accelerated Genetics.
Kraabel is attending Western Technical College working towards a degree in Agri-Business with an emphasis in Animal Science. He is a member of the Post-Secondary Agricultural Students organization. Kraabel grew up working on a farms focused on commercial beef, dairy and rabbit production.
Katherine Larson:
Larson has joined the Accelerated Genetics team as a Laboratory Intern. She is based at Production Facility in Westby, Wis., where her objectives include extender preparation and testing, semen analysis and quality control, computer entry of production and quality control data, and processing and freezing of bovine semen.
A student at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, Larson plans to obtain a degree in Ag Business with a minor in Comprehensive Agriculture. She grew up on her family's farm, where she is actively involved in many aspects of the 200-acre crop and heifer operation. Larson also finds time to be involved in Collegiate FFA, UW-Platteville Ag Business Club, Pioneer Dairy Club and Wisconsin Junior Holstein Association.
Kade Lindback:
Lindbeck is serving as a Farm and Barn intern, where he will be feeding and caring for the bulls, assisting with collection, and maintenance of the Production Facility in Westby, Wis.
Majoring in Animal Science at Iowa State University, Lindbeck is active in Block & Bridle. He grew up on a commercial cow calf beef ranch in central Idaho. While in college he has enjoyed experiences working with hog, dairy and beef operations, making his animal care and management abilities well rounded.
Charles Moore:
Moore is also interning as a Farm and Barn Intern. He is majoring in Dairy Science with minors in Ag Business and Animal Science at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. At college he is active in UWRF Dairy Club, Delta Theta Sigma Fraternity, and is on the Executive Team for the Midwest American Dairy Science Association – Student Affiliate Division.
Moore grew up on a 25-head registered heifer farm with Holsteins, Brown Swiss and Milking Shorthorns. In addition, he has experience on a dairy farm milking and feeding cattle, and conducting maintenance and fieldwork.
Anna Wilkens:
Wilkens is based out of Nebraska Bull Service, a division of Accelerated Genetics, in McCook, Neb. In her intern role she will be gaining experience in all aspects of the facility working as a farm and barn herdsman, laboratory technician, shipping and receiving clerk and office receptionist.
Wilkens is attending the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture majoring in Agribusiness and Livestock Production. She is involved in the American Angus Association and College Stock Dog Club. Wilkens has worked on farms throughout her high school years and currently owns a small herd of Angus cows.
