FFA logoThe Wisconsin FFA Foundation is seeking applicants for their 2013 Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Grant Program. The application can be found at www.wisconsinffa.org/programs and must be postmarked by November 15, 2013.

Through the SAE Grant Program, agricultural education students may be eligible for financial support of their individual program. SAE is the experiential learning aspect of the three-part model of agricultural education. This component is where students apply their knowledge and skills to a hands-on project related to an area of agriculture. The project can be entrepreneurial, where the student has ownership, or can focus on a placement project, where the student works for another entity.

"To these middle school and high school FFA members, $500 is a significant amount of capital that can really jump-start their SAE or take an existing SAE to the next level," says Sara Schoenborn, executive director of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation. "A lot of members wouldn't have access to this capital without these grants that we provide in partnership with many donors. It's truly a life-changing program."

SAE Grants are available in four different categories: aquaculture, dairy, organic agriculture, and start-up. Funds for these grants are given by Foremost Farms USA, Nasco, Organic Valley, Saputo Cheese USA, Sartori, ST Paper, We Energies, Wisconsin Aquaculture Association and the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board.

To be eligible for the grants, students must be a current FFA member in grades 7 through 11 during the 2013-2014 school year and must submit a completed application by November 15, 2013.

The application for the SAE Grants is available at www.wisconsinffa.org/programs. Questions can be directed to the Wisconsin FFA Foundation at info@wisconsinffafoundation.org or 608-831-5058 .
