The student-run Cheese Stand at World Dairy Expo sold a record number of grilled cheese sandwiches this year. Surpassing the previous record by 5,000 sandwiches, 27,450 grilled cheese sandwiches were made in six days.

Collegiate Farm Bureau (CFB) at UW-Madison organized the Cheese Stand as the club's main fundraiser for the year. Two World Dairy Expo Cheese Stand interns managed the popular Expo attraction: Emily Selner, a junior at UW-Madison majoring in life sciences communication and agricultural economics and CFB Vice President, and Cody Getschel, also a junior at UW-Madison studying dairy science.

"We had an amazing year filled with many records as well as great student help. As a club we look forward to providing new opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom," Emily stated.

Thanks to major sponsors SCR Dairy and Mycogen Seeds and food sponsors AMPI Cheese and Grassland Dairy Products Inc., the iconic stand was made possible once again this year. Approximately 700 pounds of butter and 2,760 pounds of cheese were used.

In addition, Wisconsin Farm Bureau Federation (WFBF) President Jim Holte and other WFBF staff joined Emily, Cody and all student workers to help sell sandwiches for a day to show their support of the collegiate chapter.

Collegiate Farm Bureau at UW-Madison intends on using some of the proceeds from the Cheese Stand to promote agriculture on campus through events such as Ag Day on Campus, a screening of the film Farmland, study tours to Wisconsin farms and more.
