Animal nutrition company invests in equipment to improve service to contract manufacturing partners

Vet's Plus OMAX 40X-2000X Phase Contrast Trinocular Compound microscopeVets Plus, Inc. recently installed a new microscope at its research facility in Knapp, Wis. The company has added an OMAX 40X-2000X Phase Contrast Trinocular Compound microscope with a 14 MP digital camera to support research and quality assurance.

The new microscope is a substantial addition to Vets Plus' analytical capabilities. Dr. Milind Deshpande, director of microbiology and bioactives at Vets Plus, said, "Not only will the microscope aid in the research and development activities for new products, but it will also play a crucial role in documenting the microbiological quality of all the products manufactured at our facilities."

This new equipment offers both bright field and phase contrast microscopy with live preview on the computer display and is useful for viewing live cells with no staining required. The high quality image storage provides documentation capabilities so that the results can easily be shared with customers.

The new OMAX microscope will also play a significant role in new product development, assuring the ingredient quality and monitoring the shelf life of the products. R&D scientists will monitor the culture morphology as the physiological and growth conditions are modified for better performance.

Vets Plus has made continuous process improvements to manufacture the highest quality supplements and treats, demonstrated by the company's Safe Quality Food (SQF) level 3 certification and status as a National Animal Supplement Council (NASC) preferred supplier. Raj Lall, president and CEO said, "We have made a commitment to our customers to produce high quality products. This investment is critical to maintain that commitment and exceed our partners' expectations."
