Fun-raising 5K sponsored by Cydectin® at Annual AABP meeting attracts record participation, scholarship contributions

The streets of the Big Easy experienced a herd of running cattle veterinarians in the AABP Stampede 5K presented by Cydectin®, held at the American Association of Bovine Practitioners (AABP) Annual Convention from Sept. 17–19, 2015, in New Orleans. The event raises funds to support the AABP Amstutz Scholarship for bovine veterinary students. In all, a record 199 bovine veterinarians and veterinary students from 32 states and six countries participated in this year's 3.1 miler.

The event raised $7,000 for the program, which supports veterinary students pursuing food animal medicine and honors Dr. Harold E. Amstutz, a pioneer in fostering bovine veterinary organizations. This year, seven students were awarded an $7,500 scholarship at the convention. "The CYDECTIN Stampede was truly a fun event for us to help support the Amstutz fund," says John Davidson, DVM, Professional Services Veterinarian and event chair from Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI). "We're looking forward to finding ways like this to support veterinary students for the long haul."

Participating runners were treated to all things purple in honor of the race's presenting sponsor, CYDECTIN (moxidectin) dewormer for cattle from Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. Purple sports drinks, race shirts, mardi gras beads and medallions all added to the fun.
