Latest Verdesian nitrogen-management product shown to improve crop growth, yield

Verdesian logoWorldwide, farmers are searching for ways to improve the overall health and performance of their crops in order to meet rapidly-rising global food demand, as well as safeguard their bottom lines. Take Off® is the latest technology launched by U.S.-based Verdesian Life Sciences proven to protect farmers' fertilizer investments by boosting crop growth and increasing yield.

"Bringing Take Off to a wider market during a time when growers are forced to produce more with less is aimed at helping them achieve greater profitability and efficiencies," said Greg Thompson, chief operating officer at Verdesian.

"Take Off works inside the plant to accelerate nutrient acquisition and assimilation while improving nitrogen efficiency in corn, soybeans and cereals," said Ryan Bond, Ph.D., vice president of marketing and technical development. "Take Off allows more applied nitrogen to be taken up by the crop, which leaves less in the soil at risk being lost to the environment via volatilization and leaching."

Discovered by Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico and developed by Verdesian, Take Off quickens germination, emergence and establishment. This increases plant biomass, which leads to healthier, more robust crops and, ultimately, more bushels in the bin.

There are six formulations of the multi-patented technology available, including Take Off ST, Take Off Sulfone, Take Off Phite MZ, Take Off Calci-Phite, Take Off Magnum and Take Off P+K. The technology offers growers a tailored approach to nutrient management that aids in crop growth rate, carbon dioxide fixation and photosynthesis – natural plant processes that encourage healthy development throughout the growing season.

"Verdesian is committed to bringing growers technology that helps them achieve the greatest yield, and that comes from healthy, high-performing crops," Thompson said.

"We recommend growers apply Take Off early and often," said Bond. "On corn you can start with Take Off ST as a seed treatment. After your herbicide application, then put down Take Off Sulfone or Take Off Phite MZ, depending on your soil tests. It's compatible with most commonly used foliar pesticides, chemically neutral fertilizers and micronutrients. That makes it easy and convenient to apply for the best return."
