As Verdesian Life Sciences continues to grow and add top-tier leadership to manage its global strategy, Martin Brown has been named the company's general manager of Europe, a shift that will move current general manager John Haywood into a technical and product development manager position.

"Brown is an innovative thinker with excellent business insights for international strategy," chief operating officer Greg Thompson said. "We are delighted to welcome him to the team to build on the solid foundation we have in Verdesian EU. As we implement our strategic plans with continued focus on customer needs, there is a lot of potential to grow Verdesian's international presence."

As opportunities emerge in the market, Brown will be responsible for providing the overall vision, plan and operational leadership in the European division of Verdesian. Brown will be a member of the executive management team, overseeing eight employees and working directly under Thompson.

Haywood, in his new role, will be responsible for managing the strategy of Verdesian products and technologies in Europe and report to Brown.

Brown brings 30 years of experience derived from executive, strategic and operational roles with major and emerging companies in the pesticide and bio-agricultural sectors. Prior to joining the Verdesian team, Brown worked for the UK-based company Exosect Ltd. as managing director. In his leadership position, Brown focused on meeting the needs of key global industry partners and developing a presence in international markets. During his time there, Brown also worked alongside the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to raise $1 million for a two-year, post-harvest program developing a biological insecticide in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Throughout his career, Brown has gathered a strong understanding of key industry drivers and how to implement strategies to meet partner and agricultural industry needs from a variety of positions held at ICI Agrochemicals, Twiga Chemicals, Zeneca, Syngenta and Agrimatco Ltd. Brown is an alumnus of the University of Glasgow, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in agricultural chemistry. In addition, Brown holds certificates of business strategy and leadership from Bradford University, Management Centre Europe and Market Focus Consulting.
