UW Extension has teamed up with NRCS and the Brown County Land Conservation Department to offer an empowering workshop on how drainage systems work and how planning ahead can be the difference between improving crop yields and an expensive failure.
"Tiling is a significant investment that can dramatically improve crop yields," said Kevin Erb, Conservation Professional Development Coordinator at UW-Extension, "Money spent on a system that is improperly installed or interconnected are difficult if not impossible to fix. Knowing how to locate and properly connect to older systems can be as important as properly sizing and installing a new system."
The workshop will cover everything from tiling for the first time, to adding to an existing field. Industry experts will discuss the basics of tile systems and how to locate, manage, and install them. The session will also include a panel discussion with local experts and drainage contractors so that participants will leave ready to take action.
