Select Sires Welcomes New Graduates to High-Components Breeds Lineup

The August 2011 genetic evaluations were recently released, and Select Sires graduated four Jersey sires and one Milking Shorthorn sire into their active lineup. In the Ayrshire, Brown Swiss and Guernsey breeds, Select Sires’ elite lineup continues to offer high ranking breed leaders that perform well in type conformation, production and health traits.

7JE939 Golden Meadows Abes GunSLINGER enters Select Sires’ lineup as a top 20 sire within the breed for Jersey Performance Index™ (JPI™) at +162 GJPI. As a FeedPRO® sire, SLINGER adds profitability to his daughters with elite Net Merit dollar value (+418 NM$) and volumes of milk (+1,166 Milk). In addition to excellent production, he offers longevity (+3.1 Productive Life, PL). SLINGER is also a Superior Settler™ and an outstanding choice for daughters of 7JE679 All Lynns Hallmark RAY-ET and 7JE1000 Richies Jace TBONE A364.

Well Balanced, All-Around Sires
Balanced sire 7JE925 Lacamas Maladime Blair TOBS-ET transmits production (+593 Milk) and conformation (+1.0 PTAT) along with positive components and health traits to his daughters. Add the HealthMark™ and Superior Settler designations to his credentials and this deep-pedigreed sire will fit into nearly any breeding program. TOBS can be mated to daughters of 7JE590 Forest Glen Avery ACTION-ET, 7JE714 Sunset Canyon MATINEE-ET and 7JE1000 TBONE.

7JE926 D&E Echo ADVANTAGE 6112-ET is the first Jenks All American Echo son to enter Active A.I. ADVANTAGE builds daughters with solid type (+1.6 PTAT) and positive component percents (+.14% Fat and +.02% Protein). They exhibit tremendous udders (+4.08 Jersey Udder Index™, JUI™) that are snugly attached, have outstanding height and width of rear udder and are shallow in depth. He is a son of the celebrated D&E Abe Violet (E-90%), who has made a record at 6-2 of 22,060 pounds of milk, 928 pounds of fat and 791 pounds of protein.

Homozygous Polled Jersey Sire
The first homozygous polled Jersey sire to enter Active A.I. is 7JE953 Fairway Mygent DALLAS-PP. All of his calves will be polled, and this aids all producers looking to eliminate dehorning. DALLAS-PP’s daughters have strong production (+897 Milk) with pleasing type (+1.0 PTAT), solid udders (+2.10 JUI) and longevity (+2.7 PL). He is backed by two Excellent-91% dams with solid production.

New Milking Shorthorn Sire
Entering the Milking Shorthorn lineup is 7MS346 Kulp-Gen Jurist ACE-ET (+186 PPR). With a unique sire stack, ACE is sired by SRB B Jurist-ET and is out of a Wildwood Kay’s Derek dam scored Excellent (92) with an Excellent mammary system and a high milk record of 27,820 pounds of milk, 1,506 pounds of fat and 986 pounds of protein at 6-6. The next dam has two records over 23,000 pounds of milk and is scored Excellent (93-2E) with an Excellent mammary system. This FeedPRO sire transmits volumes of milk (+953 Milk), solid components (+.24 Fat and +.06 Protein), elite Net Merit dollar value (+433 NM$) and breed-leading longevity (+2.4 PL).
