Steve Chapman, Ruan Transportation Management Systems' chief executive officer, has named Ben McLean president and chief operating officer of Ruan Transportation Management Systems. Since joining the company in 2007, McLean has been given a wide range of executive responsibilities in preparation for this promotion. Most recently, he served as executive vice president providing oversight of Ruan's western operations and the information technology, maintenance, assets and legal teams. In his new role, McLean will also have oversight responsibility of Ruan's more than 260 operations nationwide.
"Ben has demonstrated his ability to provide the leadership required to ensure the ongoing success of our company," said Chapman (right). "Ben is part of the third generation of the Ruan family to take on significant roles within the family of companies, and he will undoubtedly continue its tradition of putting people first, providing exceptional customer service and giving back to the communities Ruan serves."
Prior to joining Ruan, McLean (left) assisted technology companies with mergers, acquisitions and equity offerings at William Blair & Company in Chicago, IL. McLean holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Kellogg School of Management and a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law. McLean earned his undergraduate degree in computer engineering from Northwestern.In addition, Dan Van Alstine has joined Ruan as president of western dedicated contract services, reporting to McLean. Van Alstine has an extensive background in the transportation industry, most recently as senior vice president and general manager of dedicated services and logistics at Schneider National, Inc.
