Zepp provides overview of current market trends and farm bill margin program



Center for Dairy Excellence logoThe Farm Bill's Margin Protection Program signup has begun and the final rules are now known. The September 24 "Protecting Your Profits" conference call will start at noon and provide an overview of the Farm Bill's "Dairy Margin Protection Program", as well as a quick summary of dairy industry trends and markets including some real opportunities for producers to secure a very strong safety net with Livestock Gross Margin Insurance for Dairy today.

Center for Dairy Excellence Alan ZeppAlan Zepp, risk management program manager for the Center for Dairy Excellence, who authors the Markets and Management Update, published in Farmshine, will host the call. According to Zepp, domestic butter prices and margins are climbing while international butter prices are falling. The call will address this phenomenon and the overall fundamentals of the dairy industry.

"It's important that today's dairy professionals understand the tools that are available to them to build a marketing plan for their future milk sales and feed needs", Zepp said. During the call, he will discuss the Margin Protection Program, LGM for Dairy historical and current margin levels as well as some strategies for dairy farms to consider. Callers are encouraged to ask questions and participate in the wrap up discussion.
