The South Dakota State Fair Foundation is pleased to announce that DuPont Pioneer donated $5,000 toward the capital campaign to build the new Nordby Exhibit Hall on the fairgrounds.
The new building will primarily be used to host a variety of local and state 4-H related activities throughout the year. Pioneer sales representative Curt Bauman with the Bauman Agency in Huron sponsored the grant.
"The South Dakota State Fair and 4-H programs are part of the fabric of our community, and we are proud to do our part in supporting this effort," said Bauman.
"We want to thank DuPont Pioneer for this grant. We look forward to the completion of the new Nordby Exhibit hall which will be capable of accommodating a large variety of events and activities not only during the week of the State Fair, but year-round. The hall will also be a valuable addition to the community of Huron, as the fairgrounds will be able to accommodate conventions, receptions, and other large-scale gatherings," said Peggy Besch, State Fair Manager.
Pioneer makes contributions to community-based organizations on behalf of the business and employees. Consideration for outreach grants are given to communities where Pioneer representatives, employees and customers live and work and that support quality-of-life initiatives to create an improved, sustainable lifestyle for people worldwide.
When built, the 48,000 square-foot Nordby Exhibit Hall for 4-H, Youth, and Community will feature more than 30,000 square feet of exhibit space, multiple classrooms, a performance stage, and a large kitchen for 4-H Special Foods competitions.
