Singleton Ranches filly heads to Texas with former world champion team roper

A former team roping world champion is the winner of the Pfizer Animal Health Remuda Roulette lottery. Turtle Powell of Stephenville, Texas, received the news that he was the winner of a top filly from the 2012 Best Remuda Award winner, Singleton Ranches of Lamy, N.M., at the conclusion of the final round of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (WNFR).

"It is great to have support from Pfizer Animal Health, which understands what it takes to keep our horses and the rodeo livestock going down the road," says Powell. "SCR Peptos Lil Cat is making herself at home in Stephenville. The plan is for her to be my son Lane's first horse when they both get a little older. Until then, she is turned out to pasture until we break her to ride later this fall or early next spring."

Pfizer Animal Health is the official animal health partner of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and also is a sponsor of the WNFR, which was Dec. 6-15, 2012 in Las Vegas. And to honor the contributions of ranch horses to the heritage of the American Quarter Horse, the American Quarter Horse Association and Pfizer Animal Health present the Best Remuda Award each year.

In light of winning the 2012 Best Remuda Award, Singleton Ranches donated a 19-month old filly as part of a lottery among WNFR rodeo contestants. Contestants who performed better throughout the rodeo received more lottery entries. At the completion of the 10th round, Powell's name was selected, making him the proud new owner of SCR Peptos Lil Cat. With bloodlines dating back to Doc Bar, High Brow Cat and Peptoboonsmal, the filly is sure to be a standout in any discipline.

"We would like to congratulate Turtle Powell for winning Remuda Roulette and are sure that the filly will make an excellent addition to the Powell Remuda," says Julian Garcia, group marketing director with Pfizer Animal Health.
