PDPW's Dairy Financial Workshop focuses on key documents for financial analyses February 10

Professional Dairy Producers of Wisconsin (PDPW) is offering a Dairy Financial Workshop to help dairy producers grow financial skills and make better decisions. The workshop will be held Tuesday, February 10 at Glacier Canyon Conference Center in Wisconsin Dells, Wis.

Open to all farm sizes and production systems, PDPW's Dairy Financial Workshop will focus on the written documents necessary for solid farm business analyses and decision-making. The content will specifically speak to the dairy owner or manager who is strong in managing the production aspects of the business and shies away from improving the financial aspects of the business. Participants will learn:

  • How to calculate costs of production
  • How to calculate the breakeven milk price for their dairy
  • Where profit potential hides on their dairy
  • How to provide good, accurate numbers to their lender
  • How to withstand the volatility of market swings
  • What tools are available to financially protect their farm

Co-presenters of the workshop are Steve Schwoerer, dairy specialist with Badgerland Financial, and Gary Sipiorski, a former agricultural loan officer and currently a dairy financial consultant through Vita Plus Corporation. The workshop leaders will provide question-and-answer time, plus work time for participants to tailor learnings to their own farm's situation.

This program is an accredited training program with the University of Wisconsin-School of Veterinary Medicine (UW-SVM) and veterinarians may receive up to 6.3 CEUs for attending.
