Fill a Glass with Hope Reveal Event during Farm Show in June
The PA Dairymen's Association is teaming up with PennAg Industries Association to offer milkshakes to the public and urging donations be made to the "Fill a Glass with Hope" campaign while enjoying the tasty dairy treats during June Dairy Month. Milkshake machines will be operating in front of the State Capitol's Soldier's Grove for the public to celebrate Dairy Month and to raise additional resources for the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank's "Fill a Glass with Hope" Campaign for fresh milk for the hungry. At Noon, a Press Conference will occur to reveal the amount of money raised to date for those in need of fresh milk.
During January's Farm Show, the "Fill a Glass with Hope Campaign was launched asking visitors and businesses to donate to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank's Fresh Milk Program throughout the week during North America's largest indoor agricultural exhibition. The goal of the campaign was to raise at least $100,000 to continue serving milk to families and individuals in need. Farm Show attendees made monetary donations to provide milk to hungry Pennsylvanians at designated collection areas. Area businesses also supported the effort. Since then, additional pledges have been made as well as online donations at www.centralpafoodbank.org/milk.
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank
The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank now distributes more than 5,000 quarts of fresh milk weekly, in addition to large quantities of other healthy Pennsylvania farm products including more than 32 million pounds of food and grocery products, equivalent to more than 27 million meals, every year to more than 800 soup kitchens, shelters, and food pantries in 27 central Pennsylvania counties. These agencies directly feed thousands of hungry families throughout central Pennsylvania. It is the largest non-profit food distribution organization in central PA.

PA Dairymen's Association (PDA)
The PDA is the oldest dairy group in Pennsylvania. The Dairymen's Milkshake is the top-selling, sought-after "PA Preferred Products" at the Food Court with more than 160,000 sold on average there each year. The PDA has been promoting the "Food Bank/Fresh Milk Distribution Initiative" with agriculture partners, Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, corporate partners and the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association.
