State University of New York- Cobleskill was the top team in the post-secondary (junior college) division at the 44th Annual Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest, held Monday, Sept. 17, during the 2012 All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg.



First place Two-Year Junior College from St. University of New York-Cobleskill (l-r): Emily Pelletier, Rayne Paddock, Coach John Tryon, MaryBeth Shults, and Sarah Andrew at the 44th Annual Invitational Youth Dairy Cattle Judging Contest at the 2012 All-American Dairy Show in Harrisburg.


From as far as California and Florida, 43 teams competed in the 4-H, FFA, Junior College and Senior Collegiate divisions. The contest included dairy cattle evaluation and oral reasons components. Awards were given based on oral reasons, high scoring individuals and teams of each breed as well as overall breed results in each division.

Emily Pelletier, Rayne Paddock, MaryBeth Shults, and Sarah Andrews represented the Cobleskill team coached by John Tryon. Morrisville State College of New York was the second place team and the third place honors were presented to Modesto Junior College of California.



High Junior College individual in the area of oral reasons was presented to Marshall Hinz,
flanked by Corey Hayes and Justene Deming of Morrisville State College, New York.


Marshal Hinz, Morrisville State College in New York, was the outstanding Jr. College individual placing first overall.

The other high placing indivduals were:
2nd – MaryBeth Shults, Morrisville State College, New York
3rd – Emily Pelletier, State University of New York-Cobleskill
4th – Sarah Andrew, State University of New York-Cobleskill
5th – Rayne Paddock, State University of New York-Cobleskill
