Special tract added to 2016 Dairy Summit for producers looking to strengthen their business sense and to appeal the next generation



PA Dairy Summit LogoThe Pennsylvania Dairy Summit will be held on February 10 – 11, 2016, at the Penn Stater Conference Center in State College, Pa., and will offer a new Dairy Executive Track for the seasoned dairy producer who wants to hone their business skills. As part of the two-day Dairy Summit program menu, this Dairy Executive Track will offer the ideas and inspiration needed to take producers and their businesses to a higher level of success.

Featured speakers for this Dairy Executive Track are Dr. Danny Klinefelter, an ag economist with Texas A&M University, and Jennifer Voss, a business consultant with the VOSS Group based in New York. Dr. Klinefelter the founder and former director of The Executive Program for Agricultural Producers (TEPAP). Top Producer Magazine in 2013 named him one of 30 innovators who have had the biggest impact on agriculture during the past three decades. On Wednesday, February 10, he will speak to the "Twelve Attributes of a 21st Century Farm Executive" and lead two breakouts on business positioning and next generation development.

Jennifer Voss and her team are business development consultants with the Voss Group, a business and estate planning company that helps small businesses think through their management strategies for all aspects of the operation from personnel development and business planning to succession planning and transition. They will lead two breakout sessions on Thursday, February 11, on transitioning the dairy and workforce development.

During the Wednesday evening dinner program at the summit, Laura Daniels, dairy nutritionist with Vita Plus and from Heartwood Farms, will share why dairy farmers are the hitch pin that is desperately needed when it comes to sharing the dairy story. She is a wife, mother, farmer, and agriculture activist passionate about the farmer's role in educating the public about agriculture.
