American Guernsey logo pixtThe National Guernsey Sale averaged an impressive $4,648 on 52 live lots on June 20 despite the drenching downpours in Big Prairie, Ohio all week and sale day. The finale of a fantastic week for the National Convention goers and the American Guernsey Association's 139th Annual Meeting, the sale had well over 400 in attendance. Hosted by Springhill Farms the sale held high expectations with the quality consignments and buyers did not disappoint.

The much anticipated Lot 1 from Springhill Farm and Marshall Overholt began the sale. It was a choice of Four Winds Showtime-ET sisters out of the 92-point Dix Lee Mentor Jazz with records to 29,160M 1,105F 1,038P. A multiple All-American honored Mentor daughter, she is out of the All-American, bull mother Dix Lee Tiller Joke EX-93 who is backed by six more generations of Very Good or Excellent dams. With both full sisters in the ring, the gavel was brought down on a final bid of $14,500. The partnership of Morey Miller, Dan Baase, Mike & Linda Hellenbrand and Peter Vail chose the 2014 All-American Fall Calf Four J Springhill Jersusha-ET. The Junior Champion of the 2014 World Dairy Expo sold due in December to Ripley Farms Aaron Cordell.

Topping the sale at $19,000 was Moziers Spider Delila-ET a fancy June 5, 2014 Coulee Crest Luxury Spider-ET daughter out of Westlynn Tom Dee cow family. Purchased by Donna Whalen of Millbrook, New York the fancy yearling was out of an 83-point Indian Acres American Pie daughter out of a VG-87 All-American honoree and a 93-point All-American daughter of the 96-point Tom Dee! Consigned by Dr. John Mozier of Louisburg, Kansas, the contender was Springhill Farm.

Paokie Lil Ernie, consigned by Lily Lane and Trotacre Farm of Pennsylvania and Oklahoma was sold to the Lil Ernie Syndicate and Select Sires for $9,500. A Springhill Jetstream son of three generations of 40,000 pound dams, he will be the highest ranking PTI young sire sampled in the past year. A son of Coulee Crest AP Lorilee EX-90, a former number one CPI cow she is backed by two other high-CPI cows and four Excellent dams.

Springhill Farm purchased the fourth high-seller, a December 2014 Sniders Garrett Alymo-ET daughter of the All-American 94-point Adams Creek Hillpoint Marsha-ET. The next dam is the All-American 94-point Marshdene Magic Mary backed by two additional Excellent dams. Consigned by Adams Creek & Daniel Basse & City Slickers of Bangor, Wisconsin, HP AC GG Alymo Melanie-ET was knocked off at $8,500.

The sale was managed by the Ohio Guernsey Breeders Association and Guernsey Marketing Service. Stanley Chupp cried the sale with Blaine Crosser on pedigrees. Cindy and Maria Chupp handled clerking duties. Assisting with the sale was Dale Chupp, Steve and Seth Andrews. Cattle preparation was handled by Chris Reichard and Mike Hickman and crew. Online bidding was handled by Jersey Auction Live.com.
