North American International Livestock Exposition Dairy Shows Scheduled for Nov. 6-10



NAILEThe North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) Dairy Cattle Division is scheduled for November 6-10 at the Kentucky Exposition Center. Seven breeds conduct national shows. In addition, Junior Heifer shows for each breed are also scheduled, as well as the Jersey Jug Futurity and the Guernsey Gold Futurity. Shows are video streamed live from Freedom Hall on the NAILE website.

The NAILE Executive Committee approved a new rule requiring all sale cattle have premise Electronic Identification (EID) tags and noted that the rule will be strictly enforced.

The arrival time for all Junior Dairy cattle has changed. The deadline is now 10 am on Thursday, Nov. 5.

Additionally, the Committee approved a new Dairy Division entry opportunity. Exhibitors may now enter the Open Dairy Show following the conclusion of that breed's Junior Show for a $500 fee.

Regular entry deadline is September 20. Late entry deadline is October 10 and the fee is double the regular entry rate. An Extra Late entry will again be available for Open and Junior cattle. The fee is $100 and special rules apply. The deadline is October 21.

Supreme Champion Honors

The Supreme Champion Cow class offers a $2,500 premium. This award is sponsored by Kentucky Farm Bureau.

Junior Show champions compete for the Junior Show Supreme Champion Cow ($2,000 award) or the Junior Show Supreme Champion Heifer ($500 award). The Kentucky Dairy Development Council sponsors the Junior Show supreme contests.

Additional activities for junior dairy industry enthusiasts include the Dairy Judging Contests for Youth, Junior College and Senior College divisions and the 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl.

Show information and rules are available for download on the NAILE website at www.livestockexpo.org. Catalogs and entry forms are automatically mailed to those who have entered in the past two years. Exhibitors may submit entries by mail at any time and on the website beginning September 1.

The 42nd Annual NAILE is produced by the Commonwealth of Kentucky at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky under the direction of the Kentucky State Fair Board. During the Expo's run November 3 through 20, the facility's entire 1,200,000 square feet of climate-controlled exhibit space is used. More than 220,000 visitors and exhibitors attend the event annually.
