Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge and Cargill Donate $2,200 to American Red Cross for Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

Student participants and supporters of the 2012 Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge held in Waterville, Maine, donated to American Red Cross to support relief efforts for Hurricane Sandy. Cargill Animal Nutrition – a Foundation sponsor of Dairy Challenge – matched all donations, resulting in a total of $2,200 sent to American Red Cross. "Our thoughts are with those who have been affected by Hurricane Sandy and its aftermath," explained Barry Putnam, dairy sales leader for Cargill Animal Nutrition and volunteer with Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge. "Since the Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge was held just after Hurricane Sandy's destruction of much of the east coast, students and other supporters of Dairy Challenge were eager to help those in need." Attendees of the 2012 Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge contributed $1,100, resulting in a matching donation from Cargill Animal Nutrition of $1,100. The entire $2,200 donation has been made to American Red Cross on behalf of Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge. The Northeast Regional Dairy Challenge is under the guidance and support of the North American Intercollegiate Dairy Challenge (NAIDC) which was established in April 2002 as a management contest to incorporate evaluation of all aspects of a specific dairy business.
