National Association of Animal BreedersThis year, the National Association of Animal Breeders (NAAB) will hold its 66th Annual Convention on Wednesday and Thursday, September 19-20, followed by the 24th Biennial Technical Conference to be held Thursday and Friday, September 20-21, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The headquarters hotel will be the Wyndham Milwaukee Airport Hotel located just across from the airport.

The NAAB Annual Business meeting will be held Wednesday afternoon, September 19, and include a report from the Chairman of the Board, Ole Meland, Accelerated Genetics, who will give the "Chairman's Address"; a report on Certified Semen Services will be given by CSS Chairman, Dr. Charles Brown, Sexing Technologies, and NAAB President, Dr. Gordon A. Doak, will give his "President's Address". Chairman of the Nominating Committee, Dr. Mike Cowan, Genetic Visions, will report on candidates for the NAAB Board of Directors, and NAAB voting delegates will elect three directors. Keith Heikes, Genex Cooperative and Chuck Sattler, Select Sires are the two incumbents eligible for re-election. Dr. Nate Zwald has been nominated as an additional candidate for election. Delegates will also review the finances of the Association, and act on any resolutions brought before the Convention.

Thursday morning, September 20, the 24th Technical Conference on Artificial Insemination and Reproduction will begin at 8:00 a.m. This will feature speakers and topics in the field of artificial insemination, reproduction science and genetics. It will include academic researchers as well as industry technical personnel involved in semen production, sire management, and sire health. They will discuss and review scientific developments and important technical issues relevant to the AI industry. In addition, student poster sessions will be included throughout the day.

Several vendors will have their products on display throughout the 3 days.

At noon on Thursday, September 20, there will be a special Awards Luncheon featuring this year's recipients of the NAAB Research Award, Distinguished Service Award, Member Director Award and the Pioneer Award. AIl technicians who have serviced over 100,000 cows, as well as industry sales people who have sold over 500,000 units of semen, will be recognized with a plaque presentation ceremony.

Following the Awards Luncheon, the Technical Conference will continue with a Barn Breakout Session and Lab Breakout Session. The next day, Friday, September 21, the Technical Conference will resume at 8:00 a.m. and include several other speakers with current topics of interest. New to the Technical Conference will be a Semen Quality Workshop on Friday afternoon, September 21, beginning at 1:00 p.m. and concluding at 5:00 p.m.
