MoDairy parties, Show Your ‘Stache contest and more are starting the conversation on the importance of men's health.

The second year of the MoDairy movement is continuing its success by starting conversations about the importance of men's health throughout the dairy industry. Mustache photos have been filling social media channels amplifying this message.

Throughout the month of November, the MoDairy Facebook page has been sharing mustache photos. Why a mustache? The mustache serves as a talking point with the goal of encouraging dairy farmers to set up appointments for annual health screenings. With every mustache photo, the MoDairy coalition is donating $5, for up to 100 photos, to Movember USA. Steel Cow has generously donated a 20" x 20" canvas print to be awarded to the photo with the most likes at the end of November.

"One in every six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime – and dairy farmers are not spared from this statistic," says Ed Peck, president of Filament Marketing and member of MoDairy. "However, awareness to early signs and symptoms might very well be more overlooked by farmers – often considered aches and pains of the business. It has been our goal this November to encourage dairy farmers to take control of their health, because, if detected early, prostate cancer has a high cure rate."

Agriculture companies across the country have helped spread the message to dairy producers through: MoDairy parties, with free materials for download , social media conversations and blog postings and donating to the Movember USA campaign which funds prostate cancer research.

"This is an important message for members of our company and our customers, so we are very excited to be involved with MoDairy for our second year," says Ashley Anderson, marketing associate at ANIMART, Inc., a company that has raised awareness for prostate cancer research through a fundraising campaign, a Movember party and a mustache growing contest. "We know that dairy producers work day and night to take care of their animals, we just want to help raise awareness that it is important to take time for himself too. If we are able to encourage even one farmer to set up a health screening appointment with their doctor, MoDairy will have been a success."

MoDairy is initiative within the dairy industry that began in 2013 with the goal to bring awareness to men's health during the month of November. A subset of Movember USA, MoDairy was launched by a small-but-dedicated coalition within the dairy industry, focused on changing the face of men's health – one mustache at a time.
