Midwest Dairy Association has welcomed Chelsea Jean, daughter of Tyler and Donna of Cissna Park, as its 2014 intern serving Illinois. Jean is assisting with the organization's work in industry relations and dairy farmer image activities.

Jean's responsibilities include writing news releases and website materials, participating in dairy breakfasts, participating in and promoting dairy events, FFA convention, Wagner Dairy Days and more. She will play a major role in Midwest Dairy Association activities in the Dairy Building at the 2014 Illinois State Fair, August 7-17, in Springfield.

Chelsea JeanAs a sophomore at Kaskaskia College in Centralia majoring in dairy science and agricultural business, Jean is involved in Kaskaskia Ag Club, Cissna Park FFA Alumni, Phi Theta Kappa, Collegiate FFA and Trinity Lutheran Church. She is also a member of the 2014 Kaskaskia College Dairy Judging team.

"Growing up across the road from my grandparents' dairy farm was a huge part of my growing interest in the dairy industry. I am so honored to have this opportunity to learn about the promotional side of dairy through this internship," Jean says. " I'm the most excited to help prepare the historic Dairy Building and help facilitate all the fun activities for the 2014 Illinois State Fair."

"Illinois dairy farmers love to support the youth programs with their checkoff dollars," says Marla Behrends, Midwest Dairy's industry relations manager for Illinois, to whom Jean reports. "This internship offers many opportunities to a student that is talented, eager to work and has a great skill set, which she definitely possesses."
