Dairy, beef, and hay producers, as well as custom operators and nutrient applicators should mark their calendars for January 21-22 at the Chula Vista Resort in Wisconsin Dells, WI, for the 2014 Symposium. Providing some of the latest and most relevant forage related educational sessions the Upper Midwest has to offer, the Symposium, hosted jointly by the Midwest Forage Association (MFA), the Professional Nutrient Applicators Association of Wisconsin (PNAAW), and the Wisconsin Custom Operators (WCO), promises to deliver an outstanding array of forage and alfalfa related information.

The Symposium features an impressive lineup of renowned university, USDA-ARS, industry, agency, and producer speakers from across the Upper Midwest who will be discussing topics MFA members themselves have identified as being the most timely and relevant to their operations. Session topics include (but are not limited to):

  • Shredlage: What We Have Learned So Far
  • Avoiding Alfalfa Establishment Pitfalls
  • Corn Silage Yield Drivers & Profit Robbers
  • Alternative Forages When Hay Reserves are Low
  • The Alfalfa N Credit: Field-Specific Recommendations May Be Coming
  • What Do the Real Experts (Cows) Say About Testing Forages for Fiber Digestibility?
  • Conservation of Hay & Baleage Value
  • Manure Management for Corn & Alfalfa: Benefits & Concerns
  • Integrated Farming Systems Using New Technologies in Precision Agriculture
  • Response of Alfalfa to Headline Fungicide
  • Much, Much, more…

The 2014 Symposium will also feature Level 1 Certification for professional nutrient applicators which will take place the afternoon of Monday, January 20 and is free to participants who register for both Tuesday and Wednesday sessions.

Full program preregistration for association members is only $115, and single-day and multiple-person farm/business registration options are available. Reserve a room by calling the Chula Vista Resort at 855.839.7817 (booking ID Code: C30084).
