Tuesday, April 7: Release of CDCB official genetic evaluations. Reports posted include Top 100 Bulls by JPI and the Quick Reference Guide to the Top 200 Bulls (both historical lists including bulls of all recording statuses), New Genomic Evaluated Bulls and Genomic Evaluated Bulls Under 16 Months of age; and the cow and heifer lists in PDF format.

Thursday, April 9: Release of A.I. marketing lists, expected after 1:00 p.m.

Reports Added

Animal registry status has been updated per action of the AJCA Board of Directors at its March meeting. These actions include:

  • A numeric code in brackets added to the registration names of OA Oomsdale Gordo Goldie Gratitude 11224922 and all descendants, with "Gratitude" labeled {1}, her progeny {2}, and continuing through six generations.
  • Example of third-generation descendant: GR Cal-Mart Dale Shah 3947{3}-ET
  • Example of fourth-generation descendant: O.F. TBone Judge{4}

  • Making the Jersey Expansion program for recording Jersey-crossbred animals retroactive to program implementation January 1, 1999. The recording system starts with a J1 female, with each successive generation sired by a Herd Register bull carrying the next level prefix (J2, J3, and so forth). Females may be recorded at all levels (J1 through J6), but males will only be recorded at the J4, J5 and J6 levels provided the bull and both parents are genotyped. Herd Register status is achieved by offspring of J6 and HR parents.

Most genetic evaluation reports have been split by animal registry status into two lists: (1) Herd Register status (HR, no prefix), and (2) eligible animals recorded through the Genetic Recovery and Jersey Expansion programs. The cutoff for the female Genetic Recovery-Jersey Expansion lists is determined by the lowest qualifying Jersey Performance Index™ (JPI) on the HR list. Evaluation Updates

AJCA: Updates were made based on new standard deviations generated from the December 2014 base changes for Jersey Performance Index2015, Functional Trait Index2015 and Jersey Udder Index2015.

CDCB: Genetic evaluations for daughter pregnancy rate (DPR) were modified in December, changing from an evaluation of days open per lactation to an evaluation of a series of "yes or no" pregnancy status observations corresponding to 21-day intervals from 50 to 250 days after calving. In the new DPR evaluation system, each cow's observation represents the percentage of 21-day opportunity periods during which the cow was pregnant, rather than open. This new calculation changed the standard deviation for DPR, requiring an update to JPI. In addition, the standard deviation for Productive Life (PL) was corrected for this summary.

Bulls from A.I. organizations not previously participating in Sire Conception Rate (SCR) evaluations will start having evaluations published with this summary.
