Holstein CanadaHolstein Canada is pleased to announce the hiring of two new specialists in the Classification & Field Services department managed by Dr. Bethany Muir. Jeanette Van der Linden and Laura Nanne will join Holstein Canada as Extension & Education Specialists.

Holstein Canada recognizes the growing demand for technical and practical information about services and genetic improvement related information from staff, producers and industry partners. Subsequently, the Association's ability to provide extension services and be an educational resource has been expanded. In addition, the intent is to foster stronger links with agricultural educational institutions across the country to connect with future leaders and maximize research opportunities.

Jeanette Van der LindenBorn and raised on her family's dairy farm, Lindenright Holsteins, Jeanette Van der Linden of Antigonish, NS brings an extensive dairy background and a variety experience from within the agriculture and agri-foods industry. A graduate of Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture, she holds a Dual degree with specializations in Animal Science and International Development. Jeanette also brings experience having been very involved with 4-H in several capacities, as well as working as a cheese maker in the Netherlands and completing an internship with a fine foods retailer in Cape Breton. Jeanette most recently developed and facilitated entrepreneurship and financial literacy workshops for the Centre for Entrepreneurship Education and Development.

Laura NanneLaura Nanne of Guelph, ON is also no stranger to the dairy industry. Laura was raised on the family's dairy and cash crop farm in Eastern Ontario's Lanark County and was involved in 4-H at both the club and county levels. She is currently working towards the completion of her Bachelor of Science Agriculture at the University of Guelph. Laura brings a wide variety of agricultural experience to the position from her involvement with several organizations during her studies. Laura has a keen interest in graphic design, and as a result, most recently worked as a freelance graphic designer for the Ontario Holstein Branch designing breeder ads for The Link magazine.

"Holstein Canada is thrilled to have so many team members who have direct on-farm experience as well as the educational credentials – both in our classification and office teams," says CEO Ann Louise Carson. "These energetic staff members have the unique opportunity to bring their love of the breed, and most importantly, their understanding of the daily life of producers to their jobs – a benefit to both producers and other team members alike."

Jeanette will join the Holstein Canada team beginning on Tuesday, February 18th, while Laura will begin Monday, April 21st. It is a pleasure to have both of them on board!
