The Hoard's Dairyman monthly webinar for October, titled "A Crop and Feed Outlook for the Months Ahead," will be held on Monday, October 12 (12 p.m. – 1 p.m. CST). The webinar features Dr. Mike Hutjens, University of Illinois, and Mike Rankin, managing editor of Hay & Forage Grower magazine. The speakers will focus on forage quality and its variation due to weather and other growing-season challenges, as well as pricing and feeding strategies for dairies. During the webinar, Rankin will provide regional summaries of forage quality, availability and price, while Dr. Hutjens will discuss the possibilities for pricing damaged crops, purchasing corn silage from grain farms and dealing with toxins. Dr. Hutjens will also provide an update on the current by-product economics.
