The IFCN (International Farm Comparison Network) ran its yearly Dairy Conference in Asiago (Italy) from June 16 – 18, 2014, representing the climax of the annual research activities. Under the topic "Development of a sustainable dairy sector", 45 researchers from Armenia to Uruguay being part of the IFCN have analysed 2013 dairy sector and farm economics projecting also an outlook over 2014 and further. Global milk output reached 608 mill t in 2013 and it kept growing over the first half of 2014 to exceed this amount by 10 mill t in June. Therefore prices are expected to ease somehow.

Specific focus has been put on "milk farming disadvantaged" areas for which very interesting growth opportunities will arise, particularly in EU after Quota system abolition, if jointly leveraging tradition and innovation within appropriate policy frame.
