Fendt 800 and 900 Series tractors receive innovative product award

FendtThere must be something that farmers find intriguing about the technologically-advanced Fendt® tractors built by AGCO in Germany, because for over a decade, Farm Industry News readers have recognized and awarded Fendt tractors as a farm innovation industry leader. Fendt tractors received the FinOvation (Farm Industry News innovation) Award in February, an increasingly regular occurrence for the brand, beginning in 2001.

The FinOvation Awards are presented by Farm Industry News. Products receiving the award are selected based on the product news stories that generate the most requests for more information among the farmers who read the magazine.

Fendt's 2015 FinOvation Award resulted from a story about the release of the newest generation of Fendt 800 and 900 Series tractors.

The new Tier 4 Final Fendt 800 (220-280 engine HP) and 900 Series (270-360 engine HP) tractors introduced several innovations that contributed to the amount of interest shown by Farm Industry News readers. These new features likely played a role in the magazine's award selection panel once again choosing Fendt for FinOvation recognition.

"As is always the case with Fendt tractor engineering, the 800 and 900 Series holds nothing back in the effort to provide farmers with cutting-edge technology that delivers the greatest operator comfort, ease of use, fluid efficiency, and productivity in the field and on the road," said Josh Keeney, product marketing manager for Fendt. "The thing that Fendt owners and operators say over and over is they are less tired after a workday in a Fendt, and add that they accomplish more work and cover more acres, in the same amount of time."

Some of the new and improved technology on the FinOvation-winning tractors includes:

  • VarioGrip. VarioGrip™ is the first factory-installed tire pressure regulation system that is fully-integrated in the vehicle concept. Two pressure settings for the front and rear axles can be saved in the tractor's armrest-mounted terminal and recalled later, allowing an operator to run low pressures for reduced compaction and increased traction in the field, and higher pressures when the tractor is back on the road for better fuel efficiency and less tire wear.

  • Enhanced cab and operator controls. A few highlights of the improvements for Fendt operators include a color terminal with smartphone-like styling and more powerful software, improved seat, LED lighting system that is both more powerful and more efficient, variable-position lights to better match field and road transport needs, and a new wiper offers a 300-degree field of vision. To keep the view of the wheel arches and the front-mounted implement free when it rains, the wiper field has been nearly doubled and reaches all the way down to the hood. The variable-position lights and new wiper design are additions to the list of Fendt industry firsts in tractor design and technology.

  • Higher-capacity and -efficiency hydraulics. The hydraulic system offers 40- to 54-gallons-per-minute flow, with hydraulic oil filter monitoring and separate transmission oil and hydraulic oil. The higher capacity and efficient use of hydraulics extends the oil change interval to 2,000 hours.

  • More advanced front hitch. An optional "comfort" front three-point hitch includes position control and load relief control. The system is easily controlled through the terminal in the cab, and improves the performance of the tractor and front-mounted implements during increasingly popular applications such as high-speed hay cutting with front- and rear-mounted mower-conditioners.
