Past FFA state officers continue service as Leaders' Legacy donors

A new Wisconsin FFA Foundation fund provides leadership opportunities for FFA members

The Leaders' Legacy fund of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation was created in September 2014, after the announcement that the Foundation had reached a milestone $500,000 in annual donations. This fund allows past Wisconsin Association of FFA state officers to showcase their ongoing support of the FFA organization through financial contributions. In the 2014-15 campaign year, past state officers contributed $12,178.57 to the Leaders' Legacy initiative.

Leaders' Legacy dollars directly benefit leadership programming within the Wisconsin FFA, specifically state officer training and scholarships, leadership conference for all FFA members, State FFA Honors Band and Chorus and chapter visits throughout the year.

Each year, only 11 individuals serve the Wisconsin Association of FFA as state officers. The activities supported by the new Leaders' Legacy fund have a special connection for past state officers, who were provided similar leadership and educational opportunities during their time in FFA. Many say that while holding a state office was only one or two years of their life, the experience was also one that influenced their career path and personal accomplishments
ever since.

"I couldn't agree more," says Julie Larson, who served as president of the Wisconsin FFA Foundation in 2012-13 and 2013-14. "We developed the Leaders' Legacy fund to increase leadership opportunities to all FFA members, from state officers to chapter officers and those attending leadership conferences. I encourage all past state officers to remember their own experience, what it felt like and how it has shaped who they are today. I'm thankful for all the past state officers who already have contributed and for those who will, all to keep the legacy of Wisconsin FFA alive."
