Benefits to Implementing Automated Equipment Will Be Focus

Delaval logoAutomatic body condition scoring will help dairy producers adjust feeding strategies, maintain optimal pre- and postpartum body condition to support production and avoid metabolic health problems. Teat spray robots will help increase labor efficiency in rotary parlors and optimize use of other resources such as teat dip.

Both new precision dairy technologies from DeLaval will be the subject of sessions at the Precision Dairy Farming Conference June 24-25 in Rochester, MN.

Additionally, Ritzema Dairy of Seaforth, ON will talk about the business benefits of applying precision technology to their farm. The Ritzemas milk their cows with six DeLaval VMS robotic milkers and use Herd Navigator, which allows them to manage each cow's reproduction through accurate heat, anoestrus, ovarian pathology and pregnancy detection, know whether she is developing mastitis before she shows clinical signs and evaluate her energy balance status by knowing her level of ketone bodies. Herd Navigator does this through continuous automated monitoring of associated milk components.

Mark Futcher, DeLaval's North American Market Development Manager for Capital Goods will review the past and current adaptation of automatic teat-spray with external rotary parlors. Fernando Mazeris, DeLaval's Director of Farm Management and Support Systems and Carissa Truman, a student from the University of Kentucky, will detail the technology used to collect and interpret 3D data for body condition scoring and compare its accuracy against a professional body condition scorer.

Both product solutions will be on display at booth 2L.

"DeLaval has a full range of integrated automatic and precision solutions for dairy farms," says Futcher, "Greater on-farm efficiency, whether expressed through data accuracy or reduction of milk production inputs such as labor will serve to increase a dairy operation's ROI. As the industry moves forward, DeLaval will continue to make investments with the goal of ultimately enhancing a dairy producer's efficiency."

For over 130 years, DeLaval has continued to discover and introduce innovative ways to make the business of dairying a better living and life for our customers, their families and their cows. Today, we are bringing the world's most advanced robotic and automated solutions to a new generation of dairy operators. Robots that will deliver more milk, better cow health, and a successful future.
