DeLaval pioneered and patented the Swinging Cow Brush, which has shown to boost cow comfort and milk production. Since its introduction to North America in 2004, the company has sold more than 5,000 brushes to producers throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States.

The brush's unique design lets it swing freely onto the cow's head, shoulders, back, and along her sides delivering smooth, cow-friendly grooming angles. According to a Cornell University study from 2009, the DeLaval Swinging Cow Brush helped second lactation cows increase their milk production by more than two pounds a day while also reducing clinical mastitis.

DeLaval has sold more than 5,000 of its Swinging Cow Brushes in North America.

"Animal welfare is a top consideration for all DeLaval solutions, but the Swinging Cow Brush is special because the cows obviously enjoy its cleaning and massaging capabilities," said Brett Olinger, DeLaval Solution Manager for the Swinging Cow Brush. "Our brush customers know that happy and healthy cows can produce more milk – putting a smile on the face of cows and producers alike."

The DeLaval Swinging Cow Brush received the best score against seven competitive brushes in a practical test performed by the German agricultural magazine DLZ Primus Rind in 2010. The study measured the brush's popularity by cows and its ability to groom the animal's entire body.
With its advantages in cow comfort, udder hygiene and milk production, the Swinging Cow Brush belongs to the portfolio of DeLaval Sustainable Dairy Farming solutions. In addition, the latest generation of the brush has been designed with a built-in safety stop mechanism and is more energy efficient compared to previous models.
