Rex MartinDairy Management Inc. (DMI), which manages the national dairy checkoff, has hired Rex Martin as Senior Vice President of Owner Relations.

Martin is charged with generating awareness of the checkoff's mission and business plan, which is to build sales of dairy for America's dairy farmers and importers. Integral to this position is leading a team in building relationships, alignment and support among stakeholders including dairy farmers, promotion and trade organizations, co-ops and agribusinesses.

"DMI is a company that works with other companies to build dairy sales and this is happening because of relationships we have built inside and outside of our industry," said Tom Gallagher, CEO of DMI. "Rex brings a unique background of building coalitions and relationships throughout agriculture that will help further awareness of the work the checkoff is doing on behalf of our investors."

Martin has worked in various positions related to environmental regulation and legislation at the state and federal levels for the last 24 years.

Most recently, Martin worked for Syngenta where he oversaw external relations and directed engagement with North America agricultural groups. He set and implemented the company's agricultural policy, directed its federal government relations department and managed its "Leadership at its Best™" training program.

Martin grew up on a swine operation in Camden, Ark., and graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in agricultural business. He will begin working at DMI on Sept. 8.
