Partnering feed manufacturers to offer blocks and tubs for cattle and equine

Central Life Sciences today confirmed that four pending applications with the EPA have been registered, leading the way for the expansion of the ClariFly® Larvicide line. Previously only available in dry feeds, liquid supplements, premixes and custom blends, ClariFly® Larvicide will now also be available in blocks and tubs. The company's feed manufacturing partners will introduce the products under their own brands in the coming months. The recent EPA registrations also mark the first time that ClariFly® Larvicide products have been registered as multi-species products that can be offered to cattle and horses.

"We have been talking with our customers about fly control and they have repeatedly made two requests: to get ClariFly® Larvicide approved for blocks and tubs, and to add horses to the ClariFly® Larvicide label," said Mark Taylor, director of marketing at Central Life Sciences. "We're excited to be able to address their requests and work with our feed partners to make these available for the first time."

"We're always looking at innovative ways to provide the industry with the same quality products they've come to expect of ClariFly® Larvicide in new and different delivery systems," said Casey White, senior product development entomologist at Central Life Sciences.

The four new ClariFly® Larvicide end-use registrations for use in blocks and tubs contain the active ingredient diflubenzuron at concentrations between 0.01% and 0.08%.

"The concentration will depend on how much the animal is expected to consume daily, whether it is 2 ounces or a pound and a half," White added. "The ability for the active ingredient to provide its effect at such a small concentration is what makes it the ideal product for cattle and equine fly control."

ClariFly® Larvicide is a feed supplement that prevents adult house flies, stable flies, face flies, and horn flies from developing in and emerging from the manure of treated cattle and prevents adult house flies and stable flies from developing in and emerging from the manure of treated horses. Unlike conventional insecticides that attack the nervous system of insects, ClariFly® Larvicide works by interrupting the fly's life cycle, rather than through direct toxicity, and it does so with no impact on the animal consuming it.
