  • Learn about recycling opportunities and Best Management Practices for saving plastic for recycling.

  • Demonstrations ongoing throughout each day.

  • Featuring a proposed Western Finger Lakes recycling effort with a survey of farm interest and plastic used for farmers in Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne and Yates Counties in cooperation with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ontario County and Casella Resource Solutions.


Recycling Ag Plastics Roundtable – August 18, 2015, Kingston, NY.

Many agricultural plastics are now considered recyclable; let's divert them from landfills or from other methods of disposal! Cornell Cooperative Extension is working with the NY Recycling Agricultural Plastics Program (RAPP) and regional solid waste agencies to assess the potential to recycle agricultural plastics in Southeastern NY. Join us Tuesday, August 18 from 12 pm to 2:30 pm at CCE Ulster County, 232 Plaza Rd in Kingston, for a roundtable discussion and meeting which will include a catered lunch, RSVP by Friday, August 14 to Rachel at 845-344-1234 or email ram72@cornell.edu.

The symposium is an excellent opportunity to learn about the latest research, educational programs, and technologies available for disinfection, decontamination, depopulation, and disposal.

Deconstruction and Reuse Workshop

- November 3-4, 2015, SUNY Cobleskill, NY
This workshop will emphasize the economic benefits and opportunities to local communities of deconstruction/reuse. It will also cover the deconstruction/reuse practices and techniques. The first day will feature classroom discussion of the benefits, barriers, methods and applications of deconstruction plus case studies. The second day will include field trips to local buildings to explain how deconstruction might be successfully carried out. The primary instructor will be Ted Reiff, of The ReUse People, a California-based national deconstruction organization.
