CRVThe August 2014 sire evaluations for CRV brought exciting new Holstein InSires and proven graduates with the basis to building a healthier and more efficient herd through CRV's Better Life Health (BLH) and Better Life Efficiency (BLE) indices.

Exciting new additions
Headlining the new InSires is Barnkamper MONROVIA (Mogul x Brilliant), debuting at +2419 GTPI and 137 CFP. With a 5.8 SCE, +2.79 UDC, and 10% BLE, MONROVIA is a complete package bull that will fit any breeding program.

Caudumer POWERPLAY PP*RC (Parker P x Magna P) ranks among the top of the active homozygous polled list at +2060 GTPI. His high component percentages and great calving ease at 4.7 SCE makes him an attractive polled option.

Hammer-Creek MGL KARHART-ET (Mogul x Snowman) provides tremendous component pounds with +86 lbs Fat and +72 lbs Protein and will increase your herd's efficiency with 10% BLE. View-Home MCC BETA-ET (McCutchen x Robust) is the complete package bull debuting on the lineup with +2399 GTPI, +2.92 PTAT, and 140 pounds combined Fat and Protein.

Two Numero Uno sons joined the InSire lineup this proof run. Langs-Twin-B Uno CAYMAN-ET (Numero Uno x Robust), coming from the Ralma Juror Faith family, debuts on the lineup at 141 pounds of combined Fat and Protein and +2387 GTPI. Apina NORMAN (Numero Uno x Ramos) is the #1 genomic sire in the United Kingdom, and is now available to US producers. With high component percents, +6.0 PL, +2.4 DPR and 10% BLE, NORMAN is an efficiency superstar.

Rounding out the new InSires, DUDE, ART, and SOLID have something to offer every breeding program. Melarry Denim DUDE-ET (Denim x Bookem) is a health trait king coming in at +6.6 PL, +2.5 DPR, and 10% BLH. Pen-Col ART-ET (Numero Uno x Observer) is an udder specialist debuting on the CRV lineup as the highest bull for UDC at +3.78. Regancrest-R MC SOLID-ET (McCutchen x Man O Man) is a very balanced bull for production and type with +1579 lbs Milk and +2.50 PTAT.

Returning stars
Returning InSire REGAN (McCutchen x Dorcy) is the highest bull on the lineup for GTPI, jumping to +2424. GRAND (Mogul x Altaiota) remains an exciting combination of type and production with +2265 lbs Milk, +3.47 PTAT and +2.95 UDC.

New proven graduate, KATANA (Planet x Elegant) will help increase overall herd efficiency with 8% BLE and +2103 lbs Milk. He will also produce daughters with well-attached udders with +2.11 UDC.

Better Life Efficiency
Productivity combined with longevity leads to high efficiency. A bull with a score of +5% generates a financial gain of $335 per cow life in an average herd. Milk production and longevity are particularly important in calculating Better Life Efficiency, but persistency, maturity rate, fertility and weight are also taken into account in the calculation.

Better Life Health
Using bulls with a high score for Better Life Health has the advantage that the herd becomes easier to manage and that cows stand a better chance of aging healthily. Better Life Health is calculated on the basis of a bull's genetic capacity in terms of udder health, fertility, hoof health, calving ease and calf vitality. A bull with a score of +5% generates a financial gain of $95 per cow per year in an average herd.
