Event offers insight, strategies to help dairy clients improve profitability



Center for Dairy ExcellenceThe Center for Dairy Excellence will host yet another Annual Dairy Financial and Risk Management Conference on Tuesday, September 16, from 8:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. at the Central Penn Business Conference, located at 600 Valley Road, Summerdale, Pa., just outside of Harrisburg. The event is held annually to provide dairy lenders and financial consultants with insight and strategies to help their dairy clients improve profitability.

"We have an exceptional program planned for those who work with dairy farm families to help give an evaluation 2014 farm financials, and an appraisal of where the dairy industry could go by 2020," said Alan Zepp, risk management program manager at the Center for Dairy Excellence. "We also have speakers discussing transitioning the farm and regional port capacity. It has truly become a ‘can't miss' event."

Hear from Dr. Chuck Nicholson, clinical associate professor in the Department of Supply Chain & Information Systems, in the Smeal College of Business at Penn State, who will discuss the U.S. Dairy Trade to 2020: Impacts of EU, El Nino and Trade Pacts.

There will be a panel discussion titled Dairy Profitability- What We Learned in 2014 with panelist including Chris Laughton, director of knowledge exchange at Farm Credit East; Wayne Brubaker, consultant for MSC Business Services; and Kurtis Groff, agri-business services team leader with Simon Lever, LLP.

Learn about Getting Your Dairy Client Business to the Next Generation with Mike McGrann, president and founder of the Telos Group. Dominic O'Brien, senior marketing representative with the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority will talk about the Future of Dairy Exports from the East.

The cost to attend the conference is $75 per person, discounted to $50 per person for
representatives of the center's Allies for Advancement, including breakfast and lunch.
