Producers ready to start transition process invited to workshop

Workshop Offers Hands-On Approach to Planning a Successful Transition

The Building the Bridge to Dairy Farm Family Transition workshop, hosted by the Center for Dairy Excellence, will take place Tuesday, March 17, 2015, from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m., at the Shady Maple Restaurant in East Earl, Pa. The initial 15 family limit has been increased to 25 farm families, due to the overwhelming response of those who registered. This event will offer a hands-on approach to help farm families start the process of transition planning.

The center has been a resource for many farm transitions and has brought together industry expertise to help families initially prepare for a transition during this one-day workshop. Dr. Charlie Gardner, dairy transitions coordinator with the center, will facilitate the workshop, while speakers Mike McGrann with the TELOS Group, Ron Bare with Bare Financial Services, Mike Peachey with Acuity Advisors, Inc., and Jay Clark with James Clark & Associates will discuss the key points to a transition being successful.

Farm families interested in beginning the path toward a transition or who are already heading down that path are invited to attend the workshop. A registration fee of $50 covers the cost of breakfast & lunch and all materials for two people, with additional family or team members $10 per person. All costs are reimbursable for families applying for Dairy Transition Team.

Register by calling 717-346-0849 or emailing Melissa Anderson at manderson@centerfordairyexcellence.org. Or go to www.centerfordairyexcellence.org and click on "March 17: Dairy Farm Transition Workshop", under Upcoming Events, for more information.
