Union County's Boop Snags Supreme Champion with the Holstein at Premier National Junior Show


Maryland's lager Wins Supreme Champion Heifer with the Jersey



J&K Vue Goldwyn Glamour, the Grand Champion Holstein owned by Douglas Boop, of Millmont, Union County, was named Supreme Champion Cow on Monday, Sept. 15, at the 2014 All-American Dairy Show at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg.

Holsteins were evaluated by Judge Sean Johnson of Glenville, York County, prior to receiving the top honors.

Boop's family owns Heart & Soul Holsteins in Millmont, Union County. Boop previously won Supreme Champion Cow of the Premier National Junior Show in 2011.

Supreme Champion Heifer was the Grand Champion Jersey, Steeshanie Iatola Tinkerbell, owned by Madison Iager, Woodbine, Md. Molly Sloan, of Columbus, Wi., evaluated the Jerseys.

Iager, 15, also shows pigs, sheep, and goats wither her family's farm, Lady Longear's Ranch. She is currently the Maryland High School Rodeo Queen and plans to attend the University of Maryland to study agriculture.

Boop received the $2,000 Supreme Champion Cow award, sponsored by AgChoice and Mid Atlantic Farm Credit, and the John L. Morris Memorial Blanket, sponsored by the Center for Dairy Excellence.

Iager received the Samuel G. Yoder Crystal Star and $500 award, presented to the owner of the Supreme Champion Heifer. It was sponsored by the American, Junior American and Mid-Atlantic Milking Shorthorn societies and the American Milking Shorthorn Society Syndicate.

The 2014 All-American Dairy Show features 22 shows in six days in addition to the nation's only all-dairy antiques show.
