Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. provided free online enrollment opportunity

Boehringer Ingelheim VetmedicaMore than 5,500 cattle producers took advantage of free online registration for Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification this spring provided by Boehringer Ingelheim Vetmedica, Inc. (BIVI) in partnership with the check-off funded BQA program. Of those, nearly 2,130 have completed the process to become BQA certified.

"More than 22,000 producers have enrolled in the BQA free certification program since we partnered with BQA in 2013," said Steve Boren, executive director of the U.S. Cattle Business Segment at BIVI. "That's an impressive number; it shows us that producers are interested in boosting consumer confidence in the beef industry by demonstrating that they strive to produce a safe, wholesome product."

BIVI encouraged producers to take advantage of the spring free certification period, from Feb. 4 to April 15, with a Yeti® cooler and grilling package giveaway. Anyone who registered during this period was entered into the contest. Eric Jones from Rogersville, Tennessee, was the winner.

All segments of the industry can benefit from becoming BQA certified, including producers from cow/calf, dairy, stocker and feedlot operations. With an overall focus on animal handling and disease treatment and prevention, certification modules are customized to meet each segment's needs.

Though the free certification window has passed, interested producers can still become BQA certified and show their commitment to quality. To get started or learn more about certification, visit www.BIVI-BQA.com.
