Technology Viewed as a Key Ingredient in Food's Future during Alltech’s 29th International Symposium

From microchips that monitor the health of beef cattle to self-serve checkout lines at supermarkets, technology has modernized food’s journey from farm to plate. During GLIMPSE 2020, the 29th Annual Alltech International Symposium in Lexington, Ky., USA, from May 19-22, experts will share the next opportunities to utilize information technology for the benefit of farmers, businesses and consumers.

The Information Systems session will bring to light applications for advancements in information technology across industries, with speakers from companies including Kroger, Monsanto, Southern States, J.R. Simplot and Microsoft. Presentations will address topics including digital signage, the next stage of self-checkout lines, automated farming systems, the use of technology to meet regulatory standards and transitioning to an era of mobility. “To feed 9 billion people in 2050, we will have to start doing things differently,” said Tim Arthur, chairperson of the Information Systems session and chief information officer for Alltech. “This session will engage participants in discussions about how technology is going to change our industries. We will hear about how technology will help us improve production efficiencies and track our food, which will be important as we look to the heavy task of feeding a rapidly growing world.”

New in 2013, Alltech International Symposium delegates will have the opportunity to select breakout session tracks. These tracks, as opposed to traditional species or subject breakouts, will offer attendees a more holistic experience in which they take part in discussions ranging from algae and agriculture’s carbon footprint to nutrition and marketing.

Registration for Alltech’s 29th Annual International Symposium is open now and available for an early discount price of $599 until April 15 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Standard registration after April 15 will be $850. Two paid registrations from a single company or organization will receive a third registration free of charge. Delegates who are members of ARPAS and AAVSB can also earn CEUs.

Attendees are encouraged to register early as space is limited. Of the nearly 3,000 international delegates who attended the 2012 Alltech International Symposium, 97 percent indicated that they plan to attend again.
