The All-American Dairy Show Committee is looking for volunteers to help host one of the nation's largest dairy shows Sept. 13-18 at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center in Harrisburg. "It takes a small army to prepare the nation's premier exhibitor- and youth-focused dairy show each year," said Agriculture Secretary George Greig. "Helping out for a few hours at the complex in the days before the show can make setup quick and efficient. I encourage all All-American fans to volunteer some time and talents to help the show continue to run smoothly."
Volunteers can help:
- Greet exhibitors as they arrive at the complex and help them settle in the barns,
- Provide information and hospitality items to exhibitors,
- Check in cattle, verify paperwork and provide animal back numbers,
- Pack and distribute exhibitor hospitality bags, and
- Assist with youth activities.
Setup and decoration starts Thursday before the show.
The All-American features 22 shows in six days, including four full days dedicated to youth activities and nearly 2,800 animals from more than 1,200 exhibitors from across North America. Additional youth participate in the showmanship contest, judging contests and junior dairy management contest.
