Court rules Agis¹ CowManager does not infringe on SCR and VocalTag patents

The United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin entered its final opinion and order terminating the patent infringement case filed by SCR Engineers Ltd. and VocalTag Ltd. against Agis Automatisering and its CowManager product. The court found as a matter of law that the Agis CowManager system does not infringe and dismissed the case accordingly.

In his opinion, the judge ruled that Agis does not infringe either of the patents asserted by SCR and VocalTag. In their complaint, filed in September 2013, SCR and VocalTag had alleged that Agis's CowManager system infringed U.S. Patent number 7,350,481, entitled "Method And System For Monitoring Physiological Conditions Of, And/Or Suitability Of Animal Feed For Ruminant Animals," and U.S. Patent number 7,878,149, entitled "Method And Device For Detecting Estrus." The judge concluded that the CowManager system detects rumination and determines estrus in a manner different than those claimed in the SCR and VocalTag patents.

Agis was successfully represented before the district court by Jon Margolies, Kathy Schill, and Andrew Dufresne of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.
